Water
Summer arrived today. There was no breeze to offer refreshment from the hazy grey sky. I couldn't shake the humidity as it clung to my pants and long-sleeve shirt. A short jaunt from my car into the hospital made my forehead moist. On my way out of the hospital, I grabbed a sip of water at the drinking
fountain.
Pure refreshment.
Cold.
Delicious.
Available.
The air remains still tonight as I read the new World Ark magazine from Heifer and drink a cold glass of water. Several of the articles in this issue focus on water usage and the need to curb our thirst for water consumption. Go here to calculate your own "water footprint." There are many places in the world where water is not refreshing, cold, delicious, or available.
As you wash your face
As you drink a glass of water
As you ride or walk over a babbling creek
thank God for the gift of water.
Water is a gift - a nourishing and life-giving gift.
As I finish writing, the rain is starting to fall.
